Location: Spinningfields, Manchester
Budget: £7 million
Status: Completed 2006
Jones Maidment Wilson Solicitors in Manchester had recognised that their existing office accommodation failed to meet their business requirements. FPL were chosen as the preferred Consultants and following an intense Feasibility Study process it was decided to demolish the projecting rear ‘pods’ of the existing building containing circulation and WC cores to make way for a new 8-storey office building which provides improved accommodation and allows disabled access to all levels.
We utilised the latest computer visualisation techniques to aid client decision-making. This allowed JMW to gain an insight into the completed design in advance of the design of the external envelope being developed.
Located within the Spinningfield area of Manchester city centre, the new building is in the ‘heart’ of a massive regeneration zone believed to be one of the largest city centre improvement initiatives in Europe.
Following extensive negotiations with Manchester City Council, the project received planning permission in Spring 2003, with construction work commencing in the Autumn of 2004 and completion in Spring 2006.
