Client: Covenant Healthcare
Location: Cheadle, Cheshire
Status: Completed 2004
We were employed by Covenant Healthcare to assess an existing Private Healthcare facility and highlight the necessary building works, in order to bring the clinical facility up to the new government health standards. Our practice quickly identified a number of areas that did not comply. As a result of this we carried out a Feasibility Study to identify the costs for staying at the existing clinic and upgrading to the new standards or relocating to more appropriate premises.
During the study it was identified that there was potential to bring the Head Quarters building, which was currently located elsewhere, into the same building if the relocation option was taken. This option soon became the preferred option and the client moved forward to find appropriate sites or buildings in the area. A number of buildings and sites were considered and we were quickly able to critique and summise the potential or otherwise of each site/ building to help with the clients choice.
The chosen site was known as The Pines in Cheadle, Cheshire. This was an existing open plan 3-storey commercial office development of 30,000 sq ft that could accommodate increased capacity. Our brief was to accommodate a Day Clinic, a Theatre Suite with 2 independent fully equipped operating theatres, 20 private beds and a 4-bed day ward, the HQ offices, a Booking Office, Medical Records, IT & a Workshop onto the site.
All of these facilities were incorporated into the new premises, with the addition of a new extension to the rear, with flexibility built-in to cater for future expansion of the business. Detailed client briefings resulted in a preferred solution which PFP progressed to full planning approval and a 6-month building construction programme which was completed without disruption to the existing facility at the end of 2004.
